Airtable Batch Processing Subprocess
detail.loadingPreview
Handles batch operations (insert, update, upsert) to Airtable, including rate limit handling.
About This Workflow
This workflow is designed as a subprocess to efficiently manage batch operations for Airtable. It accepts input for Airtable base and table IDs, a mode of operation (insert, update, or upsert), and the records to be processed. The workflow dynamically routes the data to the appropriate Airtable API endpoint based on the specified mode. It also incorporates logic to handle potential API rate limits by introducing delays.
Key Features
- Subprocess Functionality: Designed to be called by other workflows.
- Batch Operations: Supports
insert, update, andupsertoperations for multiple records. - Dynamic Routing: Routes requests to the correct Airtable API endpoint based on the
modeparameter. - Rate Limit Handling: Includes logic to detect and wait for
429 Too Many Requestsstatus codes to prevent API throttling. - Data Transformation: Prepares data for Airtable API calls, including structuring
fieldsand handlingidfor updates. - Error Handling: Implements retries for HTTP requests.
How To Use
This workflow is intended to be executed as a subprocess.
- Trigger: It is designed to be triggered by an
Execute Workflownode (e.g.,Airtable Batchnode in the provided JSON). - Inputs: The
Airtable Subprocesstrigger node expects the following inputs:baseId: Your Airtable Base ID (e.g.,appXXXXXXXXXXXXX).tableIdOrName: The ID or name of your Airtable Table (e.g.,tblXXXXXXXXXXXXX).mode: The operation mode. Acceptsupsert, insert, orupdate.fieldsToMergeOn(optional, forupsertmode): An array of field names to use for matching records (e.g.,["field1", "field2"]).records: An array of record objects, where each object contains the fields to be sent to Airtable. Forupdatemode, records must include anidfield.
Workflow Logic:
- The
Airtable Subprocessnode receives the input data. - The
Split Outnode separates therecordsarray. - The
batch 10node groups records into batches of 10. - The
Switchnode directs the batched records based on themodeinput:update: Processes throughEdit Fields4(to extractidandfields) ->Aggregate3->updateHTTP Request.upsert: Processes throughEdit Fields1(to extractfields) ->Aggregate1->upsertHTTP Request.insert: Processes throughEdit Fields2(to extractfields) ->Aggregate2->insertHTTP Request.
- Each of the Airtable HTTP request nodes (
upsert,insert,update) checks for a429status code using therate limit?nodes. - If a
429is detected, aWaitnode is triggered (0.2s forupsert, 5s forinsert, 5s forupdate) followed by aretry requestnode to re-attempt the operation. - The
return merged outputnode aggregates the results from the different branches.
